Have You Seen a Electric Vehicle on the Road Yet?
For Real....Electric Vehicles?
Electric vehicle charging station locations will become a regular sighting in the next 5 years. Do you know where your nearest electric vehicle charging station is located? Not likely, because the infrastructure is not yet in place.
Your business should be one of the first to install vehicle charging stations at your place of business.
Why Be the First?
Electric Vehicle Market is Growing
I just saw my first Volt parked at the dealership this week, so I believe we will begin to see electric vehicles among other vehicles. It has even gottten me to think...hey how far is my commute to work...maybe this would work for me. Obviously, there are a lot of other folks out there thinking the same thing. Take a look at some numbers.
- Hybrid Fleet Vehicle Sales to Surpass 740,000 Units per Year in 2015 (Pike Research)
- More than 1.3 Million Plug-in Electric Vehicles to be in Corporate and Government Fleets by 2015 (Pike Rearch)
- Government incentives covering the installation costs of installing charging stations on commercial or private property (up to $2000 private, up to $50,000 commercial) have been extended until December 31st, 2011. (Plug-In Car)
It is obvious that the electric vehicle will be a normal sighting within the next five years. When will you get your business involved?
Generate Green, Positive PR for Your Business
In 10 years there will be electric vehicle charging stations everywhere. Early adopters will have the advantage of being one of the first to host an electric vehicle. This would be a perfect opportunity to make the news and create some interesting PR for your business. There aren't many charging stations around, so it would be relatively easy to get your charging station in the news.
Additional Line of Business-Profit Center
You can offer a charge for FREE or you can charge for a charge. There will be businesses who will be charging for this service, just like a gas station. This may not be a huge sales generator, but would likely be enough to justify the investment in setting up a charging station.
Take Advantage of Government Incentives
Government incentives are there now..and who knows when that will end. There is only 6 months left to take advantage of 50% incentive against the cost of installing a vehicle charging station, up to $50,000 for businesses. This is especially beneficial to businesses who know that their client base will be driving cars.
